Dream Chaser(Series): “Living the Dream”

When it comes to the Dream the best state to be in is “living the Dream”. So many people get distracted, or derailed while living the Dream, and forget that God is on our side. Know that God fights our battles, and that God is the ultimate redeemer. #HeRedeems. Living the dream means understanding that there is a process, and that God knows where you are and where you need to go. Don’t stop moving forward, simply to start complaining about the tough situation(s) you’ve found yourself in, but instead trust God to reveal something incredible.

Sometimes things of great value are found in the most difficult situations. King David experienced many distractions and derailments in the process of “living the Dream”. For David it started as a child, when he discovered that his own father didn’t think he was “King material” when Samuel was looking to appoint Israel’s next king. David then had to fight a Giant with only five stones and sling shot (not great odds, by any means). After defying the odds, he served Saul loyally, only to be repaid with wrath, and murderous intent (by his King). David ended up having to flee for his life,  due to Saul’s terrible jealousy, and unrighteous disdain for David. After a terrible bout with depression, David becomes a King(the Dream).

During King David’s regin he commited terrible acts, in order to sleep with another mans wife (plotting the husbands death). All these distractions, and yet the Bible describes David as man after God’s own heart. David’s Kingship is never taken from him. We see through the life of David the he gets distracted and derailed at times, yet his life lends us knowledge and reveals keys to “living the dream” successfully.

1. When David has an open and constant line of communication with God he achieves great things that bring life and freedom to people.

2. Success is lived out in the presence of God.

3. Distractions and derailment are always redeemed when they are given to God in repentance.

4. Once you’ve moved past the distractions and derailments, keep living because God is your hope, and He is fully concerned with your future.

Though David did horrible things, and allowed the world beat him down at times he became a great person in the eyes of God. It’s God’s view of you that matters the most, so go on and be the Dream that God has called you to be. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
