Ezra’s Pain

I was at my in-laws house. My oldest son, Ezra, who is two years old was being all kinds of fussy and I had no idea why. Then my wife realized that Ezra had his second molars coming in and he couldn’t cope with the pain anymore. So like any good father I wanted to give him something to take away his pain. Now at this time Ezra had the empty children’s syringe (harmless thing that make it easier to put the medication in a young child’s mouth) in his hand. I asked him for it so I could fill it with medicine and stop his suffering. But instead of giving me syringe he kept it and kept crying. In his pain he wouldn’t trust me even though I had what he needed. All he had to do was trust me to do what he knew I could do, give him the missing ingredient to end his pain.

This gave me an epiphany, this is how Christians are with God at times. We don’t trust God with our problems, with our pain. Refusing to give God everything only keeps us in pain longer. God wants us to trust Him and for us to know that He will full restore us. Check 1 peter 5:7 “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” and then see how it’s guaranteed restoration in 1 peter 5:10 “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” So go on trust God with what you holding onto and let Him restore you!
